Woman, Independent Parent, Artist, Advocate, Artifical Pancreas.... and EVERYTHING in between.

I am blessed to be parenting two beautiful girls, ages eight and eleven. My youngest nearly lost her life at age six (August 2010) to diabetic ketoacidosis: an often fatal consequences of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes. This is OUR journey: raw and sometimes, uncensored.

Thank you for visiting wishing good health and a cooperative pancreas to you and yours.

MY ZINE (Check it out!)

Have you ever heard of a zine? If it helps, it's pronounced "zeen".

"My Daughter's Journey" a Gypsy Wagon Zine publication

For those of you who are not familiar with this term, a zine is an independently published, low budget, grass-roots magazine (for lack of a better term. Hence 'zine'). It is a combination of visual art and written word.

My Daughter's Journey: Reflections Of Our First Year Post Type One Diabetic Diagnosis" is a black and white, cut and paste style zine measuring 7" x 8.5". Page count not yet available (because I can't stop myself from creating new pages).

This zine has been created for three reasons: 1) to express the grief and other emotions surrounding my (then) six year old daughter's diagnosis with type one diabetes, and survival of diabetic ketoacidosis (an often fatal consequence of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes). 2) To offer emotional support to parents with a newly diagnosed younger child. And 3), to offer insight to extended family and friends as to the emotional nature of diagnosis.
