I am blessed to be parenting two beautiful girls, ages eight and eleven. My youngest nearly lost her life at age six (August 2010) to diabetic ketoacidosis: an often fatal consequences of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes. This is OUR journey: raw and sometimes, uncensored.

Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes

The following are symptoms of type 1 diabetes, I encourage parents to familiarize themselves with these. There is a strange spike in kids between Kindergarten and Grade 1 developing this condition. By knowing what you could possibly be looking for, I am hoping that you can spare your child, or even a child in your neighbourhood or extended family, the trauma of a drawn out illness and traumatic hospitalization.

Symptoms:

Mood Swings
Dry Mouth
Headaches
Extreme tiredness and paleness
Blurred Vision
Frequent Need To Urinate
Extreme and Insatiable Thirst
