Woman, Independent Parent, Artist, Advocate, Artifical Pancreas.... and EVERYTHING in between.

I am blessed to be parenting two beautiful girls, ages eight and eleven. My youngest nearly lost her life at age six (August 2010) to diabetic ketoacidosis: an often fatal consequences of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes. This is OUR journey: raw and sometimes, uncensored.

Thank you for visiting wishing good health and a cooperative pancreas to you and yours.

Visual Art Journalling: A Mother's Coping

This page was created approximately a week before Rowan's hospitalization, before we knew she was in fact unwell. I was having difficulty accepting her new intense temper tantrums, not realizing I was dealing with the mood swings of diabetes.
On an adjoining page (not shown here) it describes:
"There comes a time in every young child's life, that in the midst of a tempertantrum, they mysteriously morph into an arachnid type creature, flinging their eight angry limbs in protest and upheaval."
