Woman, Independent Parent, Artist, Advocate, Artifical Pancreas.... and EVERYTHING in between.

I am blessed to be parenting two beautiful girls, ages eight and eleven. My youngest nearly lost her life at age six (August 2010) to diabetic ketoacidosis: an often fatal consequences of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes. This is OUR journey: raw and sometimes, uncensored.

Thank you for visiting wishing good health and a cooperative pancreas to you and yours.

Best Advice Received Thus Far.....

Sometimes you have to take someone's advice with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to Diabetes. But I recently received an excellent tip from a non-diabetic (who'd have thunk?!?!?) that I'm going to share with you today.

Rowan has a tendency of freaking out over the insulin injections. BUT I just recently learned that if I firmly pinch and quickly blow hard on the surface that's about to be injected, she hardly feels the needle going in. This is especially helpful with spots that she can't "see".

Maybe this will help you all with your battles..... maybe not. But I'm wishing you luck either way!
