Woman, Independent Parent, Artist, Advocate, Artifical Pancreas.... and EVERYTHING in between.

I am blessed to be parenting two beautiful girls, ages eight and eleven. My youngest nearly lost her life at age six (August 2010) to diabetic ketoacidosis: an often fatal consequences of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes. This is OUR journey: raw and sometimes, uncensored.

Thank you for visiting wishing good health and a cooperative pancreas to you and yours.

Middle Of The Night Moments

she crawls into my bed, taking a drink of water before settling in. I love you Bones"..."I love you too"..."You know I didn't give you diabetes, right?" (something I learned she said the other week, but didn't dare to bring up)... "I know, my pancreas did"..."And you know I didn't have anything to do with that, right?"...."I know" she says sleepily..."Because if I had the power to give it to anyone, I would have given it to myself, just to spare you"..."I know Mama" she says as she curls up in the fetal position hugging my heart. I'm able to keep it together, holding her, until she returns to sleep. Then my tears wet her hair.
